RIP Les Paul

The legendary Les Paul passed away yesterday at the age of 94.

He was an inspiration to the world of guitarists and one of the greatest electric guitar designers.

However, he was also an inspiration for my brooches. In April 2008 my partner, who is a Luthier, gave me a toggle switch destined for a Les Paul guitar that he was repairing. I had just started selling my brooches and my challenge was to turn this toggle switch into a brooch. He also gave my an orange capacitor. From there my first ever toggle switch brooch was made (see photo). People would always comment on it. Boys would say "hey, you are wearing a Les Paul!" so I slowly began making more & selling them.... and the rest is history.

So thanks Les Paul for inspiring my craft. RIP

Sunday signs in Melbourne...

Julia Deville exhibition

i went to see the Julia Deville exhibition the week before last week. Julia is a taxidermist and a jeweler. I love her work! The little details in her work are amazing... they also make you want to touch them (but its ok, i was good... i didn't touch them)
